Logo

Women from around various parts of the whole island of Ireland came together to prepare the 1982 programme. The artwork for this was created by an anonymous young Irish male artist and this graphic later became our national logo.

It is in the form of a stylised Celtic cross, with four praying figures, their head and arms in a kneeling position.

They are like arrows converging from the four corners of the earth. All are joined together within the circle of the world, representing our unity in diversity. The circle is also a symbol of being enfolded in God’s love.

This graphic was subsequently adopted by the International Committee and adapted to become the logo of the worldwide movement.

The World Day of Prayer International Committee has its headquarters in New York.
